Scores: Notes and
Errata
(lp, update 3/19/16)
Septet (for six electric guitars and electric bass)
- Guitar 2 tuning:
The score specifies that the B and E (II, I) strings are
retuned, -14¢. Consequently, the C# octaves from mm. 85 are
quite difficult. Suggestion: tune the G string down as well,
play the low C#s there. (Thanks to Josh Lopes)
- No section III is
marked, it should probably be at m. 107. (Thanks to
Nick Didkovsky)
- The bass harmonics are
difficult to produce. Suggestion: tune
the bass I (G) string up to A, and the II string to D# (11th
harmonic, -49¢). This makes the required pitches
lower harmonics on a higher string These strings are not
otherwise used. A 6-string bass, also retuned, adds more
possibilities for bringing the required pitches to lower
nodes. (Thanks to Devin Maxwell).
- These notes refer to the publication of the score in New Music for Plucked Strings,
Frog Peak Music.

from letter, JT to LP, 1985, about Septet
Harmonium #3 (String Trio)
- Measure before XI, cello part. Doesn't agree with score.
Part has 1 triple, 3 duples. Score has 3 triples, 1 duple.
Score is correct (I believe)
- at VIII, violin part should be 16ths in score (beam
missing)
Harmonium #2 (guitars)
- The last measures in guitar 1 (what is now a triad
starting on Eb) is wrong, it is a Gb major triad. The typo
seems to be that the Gb major arpeggio is notated as if it
were in the bass clef.
