In order to use the applets (sound making applications that run with your browser) sprinkled throughout this web book you will need to download a browser plugin (called a JSyn Plugin) from here:

The JSyn plugin provides real-time audio synthesis for Java Applets. It allows you to run interactive music and audio Applets from your browser. Downloading and installing the plugin in easy to do. But if you have any problems please contact the helpful folks that maintain the plugin site.
