sound examples for class
sounds: short soundfiles for use in first project, and whatever else you want (these are mostly aiff, 44.1k, but they vary as to length, stereo/mono, sampling rate, file format, etc.)Caution: Generally, you shouldn't have any trouble just dragging these soundfiles over. However, not every Mac and every browser and every configuration seems to work exactly right in getting these sounds across. You should be able to drag them on to your desktop and just open them up in any program. If not, try clicking on the soundfile name, and "Save this link..." as source. Soundhack is the friendliest program towards odd soundfile headers, so open it there (you may have to use "Open any...". Once you've got it in Soundhack (and can, for example play it), save a copy as AIFF. Note that if it's not 44.1 or stereo, saving it as such won't necesarily make it that way (you need to use Varispeed in Soundhack, for instance, to change sample rates, or Soundmaker will do it as well).
image processing examples (Math 5, spatial redundancy)
SoundHack Manual (online in HTML format)soundhack itself is on public in the bregman folder
download SuperCollider2download the 2.2.7 demo, and use the class authorization code, examples, documenation, etc. are also included here, but you need to unstuff everything
how to hand in assignments that are soundfiles (Assignment 1, 2)You will need to put your finished soundfiles (AIFF, 44.1, stereo) in a dropbox for the class, which is a hard drive over in Bregman. Assignments are due the morning they are due, that's when we check them, anything that comes in after that, or is not "ok" (check it thoroughly before you drag it over) will be graded accordingly.
The "dropbox" for the class is accessed as follows.
- go to the chooser (and select appleshare)
- go to Hallgarten, select RAVEN
- log in (you will have the password)
- open the cc11 Dropbox , where you should find different folders for each assignment
- put your first projects (composition) in Assignment_1, with the title MYLASTNAME1.aiff (but please insert your own last name)
- put your second projects (DSP soundfiles) in Assignment_2, with the title MYLASTNAME21.aiff, MYLASTNAME22.aiff, where the first is the vowels without fundamentals, the second with fundamentals, and the same last name (we'll have a list of who's working together)
